Lorraine's story
Lorraine recently undertook her Specialist Community Practitioner qualification at Liverpool John Moores.
"Undertaking the postgraduate Specialist Practitioner in Children’s Community Nursing as a mature student was very daunting as I was many years out of academia but wanted to do this as a personal and professional challenge to myself.
The support and knowledge provided by the course leader and module leads at LJMU have been invaluable believing and supporting me in completing the Specialist practitioner course Their guidance has enabled me to gain a broader knowledge base, becoming a more insightful, forward-thinking, and proactive Community Children's Nurse (CCN). This program has enriched my knowledge, understanding and equipped me with the tools to be a greater advocate for children and families in the community. I have learned to address complex health needs with confidence and ensure that each child receives the best possible care. The experience has not only enhanced my clinical skills but also strengthened my commitment to holistic, family-centred care, allowing me to contribute more effectively to the well-being of the children and families I support.
I would say to anybody unsure whether they can still achieve academically and reluctant to return to study that LJMU is the place to challenge your self doubts and you will achieve in a very supportive environment."
